Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. This is a very important stage as it helps your child get ready for school as well as preparing them for their future learning and successes. From when your child is born up until the age of 5, their early years experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and support their development, care and learning needs.

The EYFS framework supports an integrated approach to early learning and care. It gives all professionals a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children.

Through EYFS Framework your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.
Children should mostly develop through 3 prime areas of learning and development: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, and Communication and Language. Children then progress through 4 specific areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design.

Every child is a unique child

who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured. Our highly qualified teachers understand and observe each child’s development and learning, assess progress, and plans for the next steps. In addition, we focus on child safety and identify any need for additional support.

Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships

Our teachers focus on developing warm and loving relationships by fostering a sense of belonging. Being sensitive and responsive to a child’s needs, feelings, and interests are our central focus.

Children learn and develop well in enabling environments

In which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers. Our teachers offer stimulating resources, rich learning opportunities through play and playful teaching, along with support for children to take risks and explore.

Children embrace learning and development in different ways and at different rates

The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities. Our teachers ensure children are taught by challenging, playful opportunities across the prime and specific areas of learning and development.

At London Academy Casablanca we have two English medium Curricula. The first is the Cambridge Primary curriculum.

Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2)

Cambridge Primary is an international education programme, typically for young learners aged 5 to 11 years and is used in primary schools around the world. It develops young learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged.
Key Stage 1 (year 1 and year 2) is a phase of primary education for pupils aged 5 to 7. Pupils in Key stage 1 take the compulsory core subjects English, Mathematics, and Science. Pupils then also have the required foundation subjects: art and design, computing, design and technology, geography, history, music, and physical education.
