Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to 6)
At London Academy Casablanca we have two English medium Curricula. The first is the Cambridge Primary curriculum.
Cambridge Primary is an international education programme, typically for young learners aged 5 to 11 years and is used in primary schools around the world. It develops young learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged.
Key stage 2 (years 3-6) is a phase of primary education for pupils aged 7 to 11. Pupils take the compulsory core subjects English, mathematics, and science. Pupils then also have the required foundation subjects: art and design, computing, design and technology, languages, geography, history, music, and physical education.
The school curriculum promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society, and prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life. The curriculum provides pupils with an introduction to the essential knowledge that they need to be educated citizens. It develops appreciation of human creativity and achievement.
There is a Cambridge Primary curriculum framework for each of the following subjects:
Cambridge Primary English enables learners to communicate confidently and effectively
and to develop the critical skills to respond to a range of information, media and texts with understanding and enjoyment.
English as a Second Language
English as a second language curriculum develops learners’ speaking, listening,
reading and writing skills in English.
The Mathematics curriculum framework explores five content areas: number, geometry,
measure, handling data and problem-solving.
The Science curriculum covers four content areas: scientific enquiry, biology, chemistry and physics. Scientific enquiry is about considering ideas, evaluating evidence, planning,
investigating, recording and analysing data. Environmental awareness and some history of science are also part of the curriculum.
Starting 2019, four additional Cambridge curricula were added: Art and Design, Digital Literacy, Music and Physical Education.
For the remainder of the Primary subjects we use a combination of the U.K. National Curriculum and the Moroccan National Curriculum.
