Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9)

Cambridge Lower Secondary (years 7-9) is a title to describe three years of education for pupils aged 11 to 14. Cambridge Lower Secondary develops skills in ten subject areas including English, Mathematics, and Science. The curriculum sets clear learning objectives and focuses on developing knowledge and skills in all subjects, providing excellent foundations for the next stage of education.

English

Cambridge Lower Secondary English is divided into three strands: reading, writing, and speaking and listening. The courses are designed to be taught using a wide range of class activities that promote experience, reflection, and improvement. Text types such as, fiction genres, poetry, play scripts, and non-fiction provides authentic contexts for skills development.

Science

Scientific enquiry is about considering ideas, evaluating evidence, planning investigative work and recording and analysing data. The Scientific enquiry objectives underpin Biology, Chemistry and Physics, which are focused on developing confidence and interest in scientific knowledge, including environmental awareness and history of science.

Mathematics

The Mathematics curriculum framework explores five content areas: number, geometry, measure, handling data and problem-solving. The curriculum focuses on principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships so that learners can apply their mathematical knowledge and develop a holistic understanding of the subject.

At London Academy Casablanca we use the Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum which is typically for learners aged 11 to 14 years. It provides a flexible framework for developing skills and understanding in English as a first or second language, mathematics, science, Cambridge Global Perspectives and ICT Starters.

Key Stage 4 (Years 10 to 11)

Key Stage 4 (year 10 and year 11) is a title to describe the two years of education for pupils aged 14 to 16. Pupils will follow the standard of Cambridge IGCSE. Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds. It is recognized by leading universities and employers worldwide, and is an international passport to progression and success.

Using Cambridge IGCSE improves performance by developing skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving. Cambridge IGCSE develops learner knowledge, understanding and skills in:
